I wasn’t too impressed with the Apple Event “Let’s Rock” today. I thought there would much bigger announcements, other than a new iPod Nano, iTunes 8, and some firmware upgrades. Oh well.
I’ve read that Apple has dubbed their press event set for tomorrow as “Let’s Rock”. There are lots of rumors going around about what will be announced. I’m hoping for an exclusive artist release or something like that. Or maybe cut & paste capability on the iPhone!
This looks pretty cool. Looking forward to the Mac version…
I’m finishing up a demo of a new song called “Super Steel”. It’s pretty heavy and I am hoping to have my buddy Joe from Enertia play bass on it. I’ve been using Digidesign’s Eleven for the guitars and I am absolutely thrilled with the plugin. See my previous post about Eleven. Anyway…once I get a decent sounding demo of the song done, I’ll post it for you to hear.
You can download the entire “If You’re Heavy” EP and my last full CD “Bruises Last” for FREE at http://amiestreet.com/sogrocks
I’ve tried nearly all the amp emulation plugins, and recently I tried Digidesign’s Eleven. I’ve compared it to the others, and in my opinion, it is the most authentic sounding amp sim. It actually feels like the amp is in the room. Yes, it is expensive ($395 for the RTAS version), but well worth it. The tracks sit well in the mix. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles (tuner, delays, etc) as the others, but it does do what it says it will do – it emulates amps VERY well. Here are some pros and cons:
Pros:
VERY authentic sounding (amp sag, speaker breakup)
Digidesign plugin, so you know it will work well with Pro Tools
Allows for plugin Automation
AudioSuite compatible (for printing effects)
Sits very well in the mix
Cons:
No bells and whistles (tuner, delays, etc)
CPU intensive (but not horrible)
A bit pricey
Pro Tools only
I wound up purchasing this plugin after trying it for 14 days. I found the tones authentic and inspiring. I do wish there was a standalone version so that it could be used without firing up Pro Tools. Other than that, Eleven rocks. Check it out at www.digidesign.com/eleven
Hi!
Well, I thought I’d start a blog for a few reasons. 1) To put some cool stuff up for family and friends to see (pics, etc). 2) To get more involved in the Recording/Mixing/Audio community. 3) To maybe get some recording/mixing work.
So stay tuned….and thanx for visiting.
